10 Years On: Repositioning Global Surgery in the
Face of Changing Global Health Priorities
May 25, 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of Global Surgery Day, a
movement founded by InciSioN — the International Student Surgical
Network — and now celebrated in over 80 countries. As global health evolves, it’s time to reflect, reimagine, and reignite our call for safe, timely, and affordable surgical care for all.
Over seven days of action, Global Surgery Week 2025 (GSD10) will
explore how surgical systems must adapt to a world of climate
change, pandemics, shifting demographics, and changing financing
models — and how youth-led advocacy can power the future of
equitable surgical ecosystems.
“Surgery is not a luxury — it’s a cornerstone of Universal Health
Coverage.”
